About Moorten Botanical Garden
Patricia and Chester Moorten established the Moorten Botanical Garden in 1939. The gardens contain some 3000 examples of desert cacti and perennial desert plants which are grouped by the different ecosystems in the Southwest.
There are several garden collections including agaves and aloes and a cactus greenhouse or Cactarium with many species of cacti and succulents from around the world. The Moorten family’s Mediterranean-style home, nicknamed the “Cactus Castle” can also be toured at the garden.
The Moorten Botanical Garden is open from 10 AM to 4 PM daily with the exception of Wednesdays. Admission is $5 for adults and seniors and children between age 5-15 will require $2 for admission. There are complimentary tours given by the seasoned horticulturalist between 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM in the Fall. Moorten Botanical Garden makes for a fantastic venue for special events and countless weddings are hosted by the garden annually.
